DIY: Fairy Path

My mother had a lovely idea to turn her woods into fairyland. While my daughter napped, I took her collection of fairies and spread them along a path. She already had a fairy house & several fairy doors in place. The girls has a fantastic time finding all the little fairies & my daughter (who really enjoys Look and Find books) especially loved finding the tiniest fairies. This would really make a easy & fun activity for a birthday party!

Tub of glow in the dark fairies available here.
Similar Fairies from Safari Tube
Disney Fairies are pricier on Amazon but can also be found at stores like TJMax.

Summer Bucket List 2012

I’ve been unscheduling us for the summer. This spring (through a series of snafus) we’ve been way over scheduled. My daughter seem to thrive but it has been running me ragged. We need to calm down, focus on potty training & enjoy the summer!

So here’s our Summer Bucket List 2012

- Eat tons of watermelon, berries, corn on the cob & popsicles
- Go to the zoo
- Have friends over to eat outside on Sunday nights
- Make homemade icecream
- Pick your own fruit (strawberries, peaches, etc.)
- Weekly Farmers Markets
- Beach & pool! Find new lakes to visit!
- Screen free everyday 9-5? That’s a tough one – maybe we say except during nap time?
- Watch Fireworks
- Fly a kite
- Write letters
- Go to a splash park
- Make friendship bracelets

Update: take a family photo in front of a graffiti wall!

Spring Cleaning comes late

This gorgeous house tour on design sponge has got me inspired. The house belongs to Sarah Hicks & I love everything about it. I’ve been living in our apartment as if it is a transitional place. It is time to clean it out, pair things down & make it something we’re proud of! We’ve got a babysitting coop started so I’ll have a little time. Plus – today the bathroom is finally getting repainted – after some water damage.

I came across this image on isel’s page on pinterest. Girls got style! Even though it is completely different, I’m adding it for a bit of pizzaz.

Stuffed Animal Leash

My daughter is very attached to a small pink snoopy but for some reason throws her overboard when we are out on the town. Ten minutes, 1 $1 roll of ribbon from Michaels, one ring & some velcro and we have a snoopy leash! I followed the basic idea of this pacifier clip and modified it. The ribbon crosses the dogs back and two pieces of velcro secure it.

Create More!

My challenge to myself (along with daily exercise and eating better) is to start creating. Today was pretty successful.

This post reminded me that I had a diy lotion kit from MadeOn. I loved the lotion I got from her and thought I’d save some money by using her DIY kit. I got stopped by the double boiler directions. During naptime, I turned the kit into 4 lipbalms (2 mint & 2 honey) and 21 tiny bars of hard lotion.

AND using the directions for a tart from tartlett (found on pinterest), here’s dinner!

Toy Storage – Part Two

Option 1:

I like how this looks but it might be too deep.

Option 2:
Use what you already have! Reorganize the cabinet so you have more space! Use the bottom two shelves for toys! Move two small end tables into the room for pulling up on.

Toy Storage

Baby is now almost 11 months!! I’m starting to feel the need to control some of the toy “clutter”. The problem is that we don’t have much space. I love the bench look, the extra seating and it would be good for “cruising”. Is it too small?

diy easy photo cubes

After finding several photo cubes online, I decided to make some of my own. With so many family members out of town, I wanted to start getting her used to their faces & names. Using a few clear boxes (upcycled packaging), I taped inside photos from my inkjet. Super Easy! I still have two cardboard boxes left. I’ll do the same but cover the images with a stickon laminating sheet.
