Gardening Personal

Spring we are READY!

The countdown has begun – 6 days until spring. We are signing up for our CSA – veg, fruit, flowers AND eggs this year since I’ll be home to use them. Looking forward to long walks in the park, open windows and piles of fresh produce.

Looking Back

As I consolidate a series of blogs I never use into one which I hopefully will — I found this post from about a year ago today.

“As my other projects end, I’ve struggled to determine where to focus next. I’m lucky that I have the support to allow me to splash about a bit while figuring this out. After weeks of gut wrenching and many sleepless hours, I think it will be horticulture. I’ve explored organizations, school, programs, the next step is action and hope that I’m right.”

I’m please to say that it is happening!

Been Busy

My internship at the NYBG has been wonderful. There’s been soo much to learn. The internship combined with my night classes has been overwhelming. I hope to post some tips as I begin to organize my notes.

Gardening Tips

A wonderful woman, who is a volunteer at the NYBG and on staff at Smith & Hawken, suggested that I used cinnamon as a rot preventor on bulbs. It seems that it works for propagation too.

Rex Begonias

I’ve fallen hard for the Rex Begonias a the NYBG. I love their decorative leaves & hardy personalities. Info here. I’ve ordered a few 3″ pots. Photos soon…
